DOPE magazine is a quaterly newspaper published by Dog Section Press, a not for profit publisher with a focus on distrubuting seditious literature. It's whole vibe is 'soladarity not charity' something that The Independent Lifestyle is a advocate of, as, if you haven't cottoned on by now, handouts are only a short term solution that will only ever keep the problems in the system well and truly alive.

Topics are socially conscious but not overly political and content is accompanied with slick street art and illustration. Possibly the only real rival to The Big Issue (why is that...?) DOPE is a refreshing modern response to the rough sleeping crisis in the UK, which has increased significantly in the last decade, and a full 23% in 2019 alone. Something is going dangerously wrong, and although DOPE aren't going to fix it alone, the newspaper's business model is certainly doing their bit to make a shitty situation less shitty.

If you can support them, there's a few ways. Find out more and share their story Donate Become a patron

And if you can, don't stress. (Although maybe share this post to get the word out there).

Also, DOPE magazine are currently looking for new distribution points across the UK for vendors to come, pick up their free bundle and go selling on the street for £3 per issue. The vendors get to keep everything they make.

Sound good? I think so. If you have a community space, shop, cafe, business venue, church, coffee joint, or any other venue you think would work well as a distrubution point, then you can get in touch with the Founder, Craig at editor@dogsection.org

There's a great article with the Craig on New Statesman. Plus here's a nice post by them on their Twitter. And before I go, a picture of one of the vendors in Bristol.
